Battle Creek, April 9.- During the past week three pioneers of this county passed away. Tliey are John Patterson, a well-to-do farmer, 60 years of age, who dropped dead at his home 15 miles north of this city; Charles Merritt, of this city, aged 73, who had been a resident of this township for over fifty-five years, and Benjamin Crandall, who had spent forty of his seventy-one years as a resident of this city.
