A doctor writing in a medical paper says: "An immense number of people sleep on the left side, and this is the most common canse of the unpleasant taste in the mouth in the morning, which is generally attributed to dyspepsia. If a meal has been taken within two or three hours of going to bed, to sleep on the left side is to give the stomach a task ivhich is difficult in the extreme to perfarm. The student of auatomy knovvo' that all food enters and leaves the stoniach on the right side, and henee .sleeping on the left side soon after eatirjg involves a sort of pumping operation, which is anything bnt cowiucive to sound repose. The action of the lieart is also interfered with '■ bly, and the lungs are undnly coi pressed. It is probable thatlyiny on the back is the most natural poaition, but few men can rest easily so, and henee it is best to cultívate thehabit of sleeping on the right side."
