On Friday last the case of Owen McLain vs. Frank Dunlavey, which involved a disputed partnership, was tried, resulting in a verdict of S65.89 for the plaintiff. There was no business on Saturday, but on Monday the case of Henry S. Boutelle, vs. the city of Ypsilauti was tried. Capt. Boutelle was marshal of Ypsilanti, his salary beingfirst fixed at $600 a year. Later the council attempted to reduce his salary to $300 a yeari but the resolntion appeared in the minutes so worded as to make the salary $400 a year. Boutelle sued for his salary at $600 a year, on the ground that his salary could not be reduced during his teim of office. The city offered him his salary on the basis of $300 a year. He recovered $244.98, which was what his unpaid salary amounted to at $400 per year, the amount which Judge Kinne decided he was entitled to. On Wednesday the case of the town of Adu Arbor ys. Jane Lamb aod Rebecca Smith was brought up for trial, ïhe case grewout of the building of a sluice across the Dixboro road in the place of an ojd sluice which had been there for some years. The ladies claimed that it flooded their land and stopped up tlB sluice. The town sued theni for obstructiug the highway, and they came back at the town with abill asking for the discontinuance of tbe sluice.
