B. Lynch, of Pinckney, spent Sunday here. Henry Phelps was in Ann Arbor last Tuesday. Chas. Andrews was in Dexter on business Friday. B. Allen and wife were Pinckney visitors recently. Mr. and Mrs. R. Erwin spent Sunday at Fosters. Amos Phelps, of Scio, made us a short cali Monday. L. Tubbs made a flying trip to Ann Arbor, Friday. Floyd Reason was with his many friends here Sunday. Will Marks spent two days of last week with his cousins. Mrs. E. H. Carpenter has been quite ill the past week. Miss Carrie Erwin was in Ypsilanti the last of the week. The W. R. C. niet with Mrs. John Tuffs Thursday afternoon. Wm. Kiltz and son, of Ann Arbor town, spent last week here. James Walsh was with his many Chelsea friends, Saturday. B. Hopkins spent Saturday with his sister at Williamsburg. Henry Fleming was the guest of Marión friends Wednesday. P. Lavey is making extensive improvements on his residence. Frank Jewell was a Sunday guest to his brother at Silver Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith, of Pinckney, were here Sunday. Otis Cushing, of Webster, made a business trip here Tuesday. Mrs. J. McGuinness and family entertained friends Saturday. The Misses Fleming spent Sunday with friends in Pinckney. Frank Erwin was bitten on the hip by a vicious dog, Monaay. Mrs. H. Carpenter entertained friends from abroad, Tuesday. Mr. Morris and wife were with friends in Ann Arbor Tuesday. Dr. Paige, of Chelsea, was looking, after old friends, Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Sears drove to Ann Arbor to visit friends last week. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Rogers have taken up their abode in Jackson. i Mr. and Mrs. James Story had Eriends from abroad over Sunday. J. Cadwell and wife, of Pinckney, made us a pleasant cali, Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. E. Howard had friends from abroad over Sunday. A company of Ann Arbor people are building a coltage at the lake. C. L. Sigler, of Pincknev, made us a short cali Thursday morning. F. Erwin entertained his chum from Pettysville part of last week. Mrs. Frank Carpenter spent two days of last week with her parents. Mr. Whitehead and nephew, of Iosco, were with friends last week. Mr. Rabbit and sister entertained their nephew and wife, last Sunday. F. and W. Carpenter were in Pinckney on business last Thursday. H. L. Stoup, of Ypsilanti, made his daughter a brief visit Thursday. Pat Sloan and Dick Bell are now proprietors of the Stebbins livery barn. Mr. Todd has moved with his family on James Smith's farm in Scio. The Misses Trautwein entertained their cousins from Ann Arbor last week. Miss Kate LocKhardt, of Saline, spent the last of the week with her sister. Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler, of South Putnam, spent Sunday with her sister. Wm. McQuillan, of Hamburg, spent Sunday with his brother and family. Mrs. Guinon is spending a few days with her son and family in the village. Mr. and Mrs. A. Straith had some of their friends diñe with theni on Sunday. Mrs. S. Taylor has goneto Stockbridge to spend a few weeks with relatives. R. Arnold and Miss Johnson were the guests of Ann Arbor friends, last Friday. Mr. Fitzsimmons and A. Dancer were chosen jurors at Ann Arbor, Wednesday. James McCabe now drives a fine horse and carriage, which he purchased recently. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Calkins are entertaining their daughter and family from Gaylord. N. Reid and sister entertainer some of their most intímate friends one day last week. Mrs. James Farrand, of Detroit,, was called here Thursday to attend her aunt's funeral. Mrs. Green Johnson has been entertaining her friend from abroad, the past few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. James Howe, of Podunk, were in this place with friends, Wednesday. Arnbrose Kearney, of Ann Arbor, was looking after his interests here the first of the weetó. Miss Mary Taylor returned Tuesday, after several days' stay with friends in Ann Arbor. Mr. and Mrs. F. Krause, of Ann Arbor, were with their Dexter friends the first of the week. Mrs. H. Knope and Mrs. Northard were with relatives in Livingston county, the first of the week. Miss Kate McCabe is receiving instruction on her piano under the direction of Miss A. F. Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Curlett and family were the guests of friends in Pinckney, the first of the week. The hop given at the opera house last Friday evening was well attended and all had an enjoyable time. Miss Cynthia Carpenter visited in Pinckney last Friday, hen friend, Miss Hooker, returning with her. Mr.. Brogan and family, of Marion, were here Tuesday to attend the wedding of Mrs.Brogan's sister. Mrs. George Stockford and daughter, Miss Ola, spent the last of the week with her sister in Jackson. We learn that Ransom Ferris, a former Dexter boy, but now of Kansas, has been wedded to a western bride. Miss Nellie Soulier had the pleasure of entertaining her most intímate friend from Ann Arbor over Sunday. Mrs. S. Thurston has returned home, after several days' stay with her daughters in Grand Rapids and Battle Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Fohey have returned from their wedding trip in the east and will go to housekeeping in Pinckney. Chas. Thompson has gone to Montana to visit his brother and on his return will stop and visit the World's Fair. Mrs. C. Taylor and daughter, Mrs. George Frazier, of Unadilla, spent Saturday and Sunday with A. Taylor and family. Some of the old settlers of this place were reminded of olden times ast Tuesday by seeing a yoke of oxen on our streets. Mrs. Swift died at her home in Dexter village Tuesday, May 2, and was buried from the Episcopal church, Thursday. She leaves a daughter to mourn her loss.
