A new thing in the surgical world is a curious brass button designed by a surgeon for the purpose of joining together two ends of an intestino that has been ent. The button consists of two parta into which an end of the intestino is f astened. When the two parts are pressed together between the thumb and forefinger, they are caught by a spring and held in place. Then the intestine grows together, an opening remaining througli the button all the time. When it is completely enveloped by the new ti&sue, nature repairs the ravages of (lisease so thoroughly that the button becomes detached by th decomnosition of the sue holding it. and it passes olĂ­
