Accused Of Forgery
Detroit, May 16.- The affairs of Herman C. Fechheimer, head of the reeently-embarrassed wholesale liquor firm of H. C. Fechheimer & Co., are rapidly reaching a crisis. "With paper uncovered up to this time the liabilities slightly exeeed a quarter of a million of dollars, an unknown quantity of whicb is forged. Detroit and Cineinnati banks hold it. Thomas Swan had him arrested a few days ago, alleging fraud in some business transactions. Fechheimer was released on $10,000 bail. Monday it wás discovered that a piece of Feehheimer's paper for Í3,OOO signed by Joseph Tromistein, of Cineinnati, his father-in-law, was a forgery. Then Mr. Swan declared that his name had been forged to $15.000 worth of notes, and the banks, nearly all of whom hold Feehheimer's paper, are trying to find out wh'ere they stand. Fechheimer is said to be in Mexico.
