Suing Detroit Gas Companies

Detroit, May 13. - Mayor Pingree is now after the gas companies. He has be impersonal suits against the Mutual company for overcharges during the last six years. The ordinance under whieh the Mutual Gas company oper-. ates provides that the company may not charge a higher rate than the average of the rates charged in Chicago, Buffalo, Sandusky, Cleveland and Toledo. The average overeharge during six years past ia ÍS'Í per cent. The aggreeate involved is lartre.
