Tennis Players To Meet
Graxd Rapids, June 5.- The Michigan State Lawn Tennis association is an organization recently formeel for the purpose of encouraging and developing the game of lawn tennis in the state. It includes amoug its members clubs in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Bajr City, Jackson, Lansing, Battle Creek, Marshall, Charlevoix, Petoskey and Mackinaw. John S. Sweeney, of the Detroit athletic club, is the president. It has been decided to hold the first tournament for the state championship in both singles and doubles, under the auspices of the Country club on its grounds at Fisk lake. The date chosen is August 29 and following days. Prior to the holding of the state tournament each club will hold a club tournament to decide vvhich of its players shall have the honor of representing it in the contests for the state championship. The prizes will be solid silver cups for the championship in singles and doubles, and first, second and consolation prizes.
