A novel and pretty baby rattle is made of four yards of cap wire, half a yard of ribbon, rune bells, a strip of sateen, sonie cotton wool and a short length of rnacrame twine. Commence with folding the wire into four and bend it into the shape of a racket; over this wind the cotton wool, then bind the Bateen all round to make it neat. Now take the macraine twine anil thread it across each way to form the network in the center. Procure one ounce of doublé Berlin wool of a pretty color, acJ crochet over the edges of the racket with four doublé crochet in each space between th.' ne'avork. Work round the edge again with one doublé crochet in every other stih; fasten off. I'or the hamïle work three chain, eight doublé crochet into loop, two doublé crochet into each of eight doublé, and continue workinü one doublé crochet into each of 16 stitches until a sufficiently large piece for the handle is worked, slip it over the handle and sew it to the other part of the crochet vrork, tie a bow of ribbon to hide where it is sewn, ind sew the nine bells at regular intervals all round the racket.
