Potatoes have been largely planted tnis season and look well at present. A Sunday school social was held in the Roberts school house on Friday evening. The apple erop will be a very light one in Pittsfielá this season. Peaches will do better in this vicinity. There will be some whortleberries. School in District No. 3 taught by Miss Anna Chalmers closed June 23d. A picnic was held the next day in Mr. Smurthwaite's woods near the school and town house, which was well attended. A saw mili has been established on the old pike, between Ypsilanti and Saline, in a piece of woods formerly owned by Mr. Porter Hinckley. A. M. Nowland is operating the saw mili, which is about four and one-half miles from Saline.
