The fire department was called out this morning by a fire in the house on the corner of East University avenue and Hill street, occupied by Mrs. Nelson. A good run was made and the house was saved after 400 or $500 damage had been done. The fire broke out in an upper room and may have been started by the cleaning of carpets with turpentine. The furniture in the upper part of the house was badly damaged and the furniture in the lower part of the house was removed, somewhat damaged by the removal. The fire had a good start but the department succeeded in saving the greater part of the house.
