Praised The Guard

Ioíi'iA, July 14. - A coroner's jury has fully exonerated the offieers and guards of the state house of correction for the killing' of Oscar Mellior during the recent attempt of a lot of convicts to scale the walls and escape. Thomas W. JUitchell was identified as the guard who shot Mellior, but the jury deeided that he was acting strietly in the line of duty when he fired the fatal shot that knocked Mellior off the ladder.
