Gave Big Mortgages
Grand Rapids, July 30. - Isaac M. Weston, president of the Michigan's world's fair commission and widely known in business and political circles, filed real estáte mortgages Saturday to the amount of $67,420, of which $55,000 was to banks and the balance to his forother. Of the security thus given, $10,000 is on personal obligations and 'the rest for contingent liabilities as indorser. He says that in his lumbering and other operations he found that he could not meet papers coming due, and to secure exteasions gave the mortgages as additional security, and when the fiurry is over he will straighten out everythina". Mr. Weston has been at the head of the Democrat for two years, but the paper is in a stock company, and it will not in the least be affected. He was president of the Whitehall savings bank, fout resigned Friday, and H. E. Staples was elected in his place. The bank will not be affected any.
