Ludimgton, July 29. - At 4 a. m. Friday Cartier's mili, a large amount of lumber and shingles, was completely destroyed by lire. The wind from the south spread the lire all over the yard and sent great firebrands clear across the city. . Many buildings eau glit fire and for a time the entire city was threatened. The citizens turned out in force and a heavy rain coming1 on helped to obtain control over the flames. A large lot of lumber belonginsi to Ketcham & Co., of Chicago, was destroved. Loss will ag-gregate $125,000.
