Rev. Mr. Oakley, of California, preached last Sunday at the Roberts school house. There will be more apples than last year, but the apple erop is very far from being a good one. Thrashers are busily at work thrashing out the various kinds of grain with a fairly average yield. The annual picnic of the Pittsfield Union Sunday school was held last Friday at the residence of Mr. A. Harris, and was a well attended and very sucessful affair. County roads are at present quite good, the late rains having laid the dust and the weather being cooler, a ride through the country may be ! said to be pleasant.
