A New Keeper For The County House
The county house will have a new keeper beginning with next month. As has been previously noted in the Argus, Charles McCormick, the present efficiƫnt keeper, sent in his resignation to the superintendents of the poor. The resignation has finally been accepted by them, though with much regret that they could not keep him. The new keeper was appointed this week and is Veeder Shankland, of Superior. The Argus desires to repeat in this connection that Keeper McCormick has been a most valuable man for the county. He, with the assistance of his wife, who has made a most valuable matron, has so run the aftairs at the county house as to make the expense to the county much lighter than under previous administrations, while keeping up the fare and looking after the comfort of the inmates. The county farm has been made to produce more and is now in most excellent condition.
