Two girls, soarcely 16 years of age, were tried recently at Ottaking, China, charg-ed with cruelty to animáis. To gain the affections of their sweethearts they cut out the eyes of two kittens, burned them to powder. and put them in wine which their sweethearts drank. This prescription has been regarded as infallible since 1706.
