Editor Akgus: ít may be of interest to your man y readers to know something oí' the developments of the western part of our state. ,This writing ñnds me at South Haven, on the shore of Lake Michigan. It is a beautiful towu of about 1,500 inhabitantsi and to ine it is the most interesting town I have visited. There is not a saloon in it, nor have I seen a man affected by "drink. The town has a beautiful harbor, is 80 miles from Chicago by boat, to which place two large steamers transport passengers and freight daily. The shipment of peaches now per day exceeds 20,000 bushels. The fruit exceeds anythingl have ever seen and the orchards are cared for like a garden, and, in fact, better than soine of our gardens. This is their harvest season, and their erop is bringïng a good priee and the farmers are talking of good times. The lovv prices of wheat and wool are not mentioned. The Union Central Life Insurance Company is well spoken of and I expect to secure some good work and a good worker to represent the Company. I miss the Argus, to know what is going on in old Washtenaw. I expect to be slong the lake some weeks y et. cess to you.
