On Monday evening last a new society, to be known as Arbor Tent Sick Benefit Society, was organizec with 53 charter members, in the hall of Arbor Tent, K. O. T. M. The object of the society is to extenc aid to the members in the time oi sickness, and to extend the fraternal friendship, which is becoming a strong feature with the Maccabees. A constitution was adopted and the following officers elected: President, Geo. Lutz, jr.; vice-pres., Geo. Dengler; secretary, J. O. Jenkins; treasurer, Thos. H. Godkin; cashier, Geo. P. Stauch; physician, John A. Boylan, M. D.; executive board, Adam Wahl, Zenas Sweet and Sidney W. Millard. The society starts out with very encouraging prospects and promises to become very large in membership, which is not confined to the members of Arbor Tent, but any Maccabee in Ann Arbor or vicinity may make application through a member and must pass a satisfactory medical examination. The meetings are to be held on the first and third Fridays of each month and attendance at meetings is compulsory. The entrance fee is but $i and the dues 25 cents a month. This is the only local English society of the kind in the city.
