The Saline Maccabees held a good time social last evening. Charles Farce, of Stockbridge, had knee cap sawed ofi last week by a buzz saw. There are 56 pupils in the Manchester high school and 58 in the Giammar school. The Webster Farmers' Club meets at George W. Mcrrill's, Saturday. December 2. Heury Stofer, of Lyndon, will set out five acres of grapes anit ten acres to small fruits. The Y. P. S C. E. of this county hold a convention in Saline this afternoon and evening The Southern Washtenaw Farmers are holding a meeting at J. P. Tracy's, in Manchester, today. Emanuel G. Klein, of Sharon, died November 18, aged twenty-five years. He was the son of John Klein. Miss Mary Bauer, daughterof Joseph Bauer, Sharon, died November 19, oí consumption, aged tweuty-one years. Mrs. William Barton died November 19, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Beach in Chelsea, aged seventy-eight years. Town treasurer Ballard, of Augusta, will be at F. J. Hammond's store in ■ Whittaker every Thursday in December, to collect taxes. The Methodist churcli property in Manchester has been sold and will be uSed as a paint shop. The Methodists have purchased the Presbyterian property. The flfteenth anniversary of Manchester lodge, Xo. 53. A. O. U. W , was celebrated last evening. An address was delivered by Deputy Grand Master Hollings, of Detroit. The township treasurers commence collecting taxes today. Taxes are higher this year than last, due to the republican state administration and the big increase in state taxes. A fine program was given in St. Joseph's church, in Dexter, last evening, which included an address bv Rev. Fr. Kelly, songs by Kev. Fr. Goldrick, Rev. Fr. Sullivan, Bruno St. James, and Miss Rinsey, declamations by Miss Gertie Kress, Miss Lizzie Fitchel! and Miss Nellie Walsh and an instrumental duet by Miss Dora Wall and Grace Allev. JJr. Blacknnm, of Sbaron, has become an eñlhusiast in eelery raising and has prepared about 4 acres of marsb land for next year's setting. To do this he was umler the necessity of digging 200 rods of open ditch, and has laid 2180 three inch tile. His expense so f ar is about $200 and he thinks the entire expense for lumber, for bleaching and a building to store it in, will not exceed $5uo. The m'ill is of 75barrel capacity, f uil roller process, of the latest and most approved pattern, and under a guarantee to make flour equal to any in the state. He also has a roller feed mjll of 900-bushel capacity in twelve nours, with fine corn meal attachmeuts. Included in the contract are all the elevators, separators, etc., to load and receive grain from cars on his side track at the end of the mili. Mr. Ostrander has built a brick engine house, and is now excavating for the foundation for an adcüiion to another building of a two-story brick grain warehouse. The brick used is furnished by Myers Bros., of Azalia, and are considered by the contracting masons equal, if not superior in quality, toany brick in this part of the state, beiag made from Macon clay, vrhich is considered a suDerior
