CALIFORNIA OPERA CO. It Will Spend Next Week at the Grand Opera House. The California Opera Co. will hold the boards at the Grand, commencing Monday, December 4. The opening bill, "Said Pasha," by Stahl, is a romantic sketch in two acts, noted for its music of exquisite sweetness, and refined dialogues, abounding in droll wit. Tuesday, Lecocq's masterpiece, " Girofle-Girofla," will be sung. This opera, many years oíd, has lately been revived by the Queen of Opera, Lillian Russell, and bidsfair to equal its former success. The music is ideal in many ways. On Wednesday the ever popular "Chimes of Normandy" will be given. Who is it that has not gone into ecstasies over Planquette's greatest work ? _Thursday, "Princess of Trebizonde," purely a comic opera; fun runs riot, topical songs, beautiful solos, charming trios and strong choruses prevail. The operas for Friday and Saturday will be announced later. The roster of the Company is as follows : Miss Josephine Stanton, prima donna; Miss Rita Harrington, mezzo soprano; Miss Addele Barker, contralto; Harry Davies, leading tenor; W. F. Hubbard, baritone; T. Springer, basso. A duo of exceedingly clever cotnedians, Messrs. Saunders and Henderson, never fail to furnish fun by the wholesale. The chorus is made up of good voices, the girls pretty and shapely. The operas are well staged, the costumes new and gorgeous. Several of last season's Nelson Opera Co. appear in the caste.
