A Change In Partnership
On last Friday afternoon Mr. S. W. Curtiss, of the firm of Beakes & Curtiss, proprietors of the Argus, sold his interest in the Argus to D.A. Hammond, who will take possession January ist, af ter which the Argus will be published by the firm of Beakes & Hammond. Mr. Hammond recently removed to this city from Charlotte. He is a staunch democrat, an able and honorable man. He is at present a member of the state board of education, and as such was put in charge of the construction of the new gymnasium of the Normal school in Ypsilanti. He was born in Augusta township, this county, and has many friends and acquaintances in the south eastern part of the county. All his life has been spent in Michigan. Our readers, raany of whom have made the acquaintance of Mr. Curtiss, who retires from the firm of Beakes & Curtiss, will be glad to know that he will not leave the office, but will remain in charge of the work which he has been doing so well during the past year. It is too early to announce the changes contemplated in the paper, but suffice it to say that the Argus for 1894 will surpass the Argus of any previous years. It will be placed still further in the advance guard of Michigan county papers.
