The Washington correspondent ot he Free Press on Wednesday says: "Representative Gorman returned rom Michigan this afternoon, havng been delayed enroute by a railroad accident. He said this evenng that he joined with his Democratie colleagues from Michigan in the support of the income tax proposition, which he said he considered a just and popular one. He would have preferred a graduatect tax running something like one-half of i per cent on incomes from $3,000 to $5,000, 1 per cent from $5,000 to $10,000, 2 per cent from $10,000 to $15,000, 3 percent from $15,000 to $20,000, 4 per cent from $25,000 to $50,000, and 5 per cent on all incomes above $50,000. Mr. Gorman said the bill would meet with great favor among his constituents and if it became a law it would be of great benefit to them and a measure of lasting credit to the Democratie party."
