The new shell is iDtended to t-urmount the defects of the shells now in use nnd adds a nuwlier of features increasing the range, accuracy and destructive power of proyectiles. The shell. which bas received the commendation of President Diaz, himself an expert in gunnery, and other high judges, is callad the Retarded Percussion shell. It is divided into four chamberg, communicating with each other, and which will not explode until coming in positivo contact with the obstacles to its flight, wheu it bursts with immense power. The shell is a metallic cylinder. with a lengthof 71 iiiilimetres andan exterior diameter of 25 niilometres. Twelve modeis of the shell are now making in the iexican national arms factory and a public trial will shortly be made of the invention.
