Only one death has oceurred so f ar. August Adolphson of Trout Creek, while wórking in a sawmill, was struck by a piece of flying timber and fatally injured. He was 30 years old. Hartford's common council will try to prevent future attenipts at burglary in that village by appointing a nightwatcb, if the business men will assist in paying the officer's salary. The calendar for the January term of the Van Buren county circuit court contains only six criminal cases, of which two are for violations of the local option law. Of the 16 chancery cases, 9 are actions for divorce.
