Death resultad from a stroke of paralysia sustained Öunday. (ïolonel Sanford was a gradúate of both the state pprmal and the uuiverBity. and left Michigan for the war as captain of the First Michigan infautry, aud in Jnly, 18ÖÖ, came out a lieutenant colonel. In 1869 he was the Democratie represenrative of this county íd the legislature, and in 1878 waa the Democratie nominee for regent of the TJniversity of Michigan. He was interested largely in Lansing real estáte.
