The time allowed for those desiring to enter the oratorical contest to hand in their names with the titles of their orations has expired. The executive committee has received the names of thirty-four who aspire to represent the U. of M.in oratory, eleven from the literary department and twenty-three frow the law department. Of the literary contingent, the seniors furnish six, the juniors four and the sophomores but one. The junior laws who have entered outnumber the seniors, the two classes being represented by thirteen and ten respectively. All those who have handed in their ñames for these contests must send to the president at 10 No. División street, on or before Feb. io, three typewritten copies of their orations, without either names or nom de plumes. The name of eath person competing should, however, be written on a separate paper and enclosed within the oration. The secretary will notify each contestant by mail if his manuscript has received a sufficient grade to admit him to competition in the class contest.
