Bknton Harbor, Feb. 22. - Frederick Westfall, a farmer living near Hagar station, quarreled at breakfast with his wife about some trivial matter. Words led to blows and the couple became fnrions. Mrs. Westfall in a white anger broke a pĂ­ate over her husbaud's head, the fragnients cuttine; his face. He, enrased, sprang at the wouian and badly ent her about head and neck with i caseknife. Snpposing his wife dead, Westfall j lrove the screauiing children away at the point of a gun, poured kerosene oil over the floor and fnrniture, overturned the stove with a violent shova and set fire to the house. Theii he cut his throat and wrists. run wildly back of the barn and hanged himself under a shed. Mrs. Westfall waa afterwards restued, but lies in a critical condition.
