KALAMAZOO, March 27.--Mrs. Hattie Heiney attempted to commit suicide by taking laudanum Sunday afternoon, but after several hours' work a physician saved her. She had separated from her husband and was in such dire straits that she had sold her clothing to buy food, being too proud to ask charity. Her rent was overdue and she became despondent.
