Detroit, March 28.- The Emergency hospital ambulance was called to the corner of Thirteenth and Howard streets Tuesday night to get a man giving his name afc William Hughes and his residence as 181 Thirteenth street. Hughes was standing on the corner waiting for two friends, vhen a man walked up behind him aud dealt him a blow on the head with a billy. Before he could follow up the blow Hughes' friends ran to his assistance, but his assailant made his escape. It was found that Hughes had a scalp wound about four inekes long and he was taken to Emergency hospital, where bis injuries were attended to.
