ioNIA, May 9. - Eagan and Livingston, iwo convicta occupying cells on the npper floor at the extreme north end of the state house of correction, made an ineffectnal ntterapt to escape Sunday night. They had planned to dig out of iheir cells, -'do up" the guard and cut a hole through the roof, but they were foiled by the prison officials, who were onto the schenie before they had succeeded in getting out of their cells. Eagan ís a bad man and figured conspicuously in the outbreak last July. He was sent up ior 15 yeare for manaiaughter from Kent county. Livingston is a shoi t írsa man.
