Bay City, May 15.- William Gh Merkle, engineer in D. J. Kennedy's pavement box factory, was wiping some inachinery when his right coat sieeve was caught by some gearing and the arm drawn into the wheels so that the flesh was stripped from the bone. Two doctors were called and give hope of saving the arm, inasmuch as the bone was not broken. Jüerkle has a wife and four children.
