Detroit, May -For the past ttaree aionths the hiirdware store at 89 Gratiot avenue, owned by George J. Sexauer. ■ mus been systeruically robbed, but at last Detective Myler canght the thief ' redhanded in the store while he was eo ing through the desk containing the 1 money drawer. He proved to be Will iam Lainbrecht, aged 20. who resides with his father, a minister, at (509 Military avenue. The young man confessed his guilt and was locked up at the Central station. He said that at first only a little inoney was taken at a time, but by degrees he grew bolder and took all the inoney in the fcill. Last week about 317 was ïnissed and the case was reported to the pólice. The employés of the store were watched, but they could u ot be detected, and it was finally de cided that the burglar gained an entrance by means of a false key. Detective Myler hid in the store several nights. arid about 8:30 o'clock lust evening his patience was rewarded. Young Lainbrecht opened the front door of the store and walked ptraight back to the desk, which is in the rear, and opened it. Myler was biding close by and he quietly stepped up behind him and told nim to surrender. With a look of horror Lauibrecht threw up both his hands and the detective proceeded to search him. In his coatpocket he found a revolver and the key to the front door. Pie then put on the handcuffs and escorted the young man to the Central station. The prisoner admitted that he had been stealing from the store for the past two months, but the exact amount of his thefts is not known. Mr. Sexauer refnsed to state the amount, but Detective Myler thought it would reach $150. Lambrecht knew the store very vvell, having worked there some time aijo.
