The county prohibition convention met in the court house Friday, May 27 '94. Convention was called to order by Chairman Steere and opened with prayer by Rev. D. H. Conrad, of Salem. Nominations for county officers were made as follows: Sheriff, J. G. Palmer; county clerk, B. J. Conrad; treasurer, Johnson Backus; register of deeds, J. R. Bowdish; prosecuting attorney, D. B. Taylor; surveyor, C. Bowen; circuit court commissioners, F. M. White, J. B. Lord; coroners, W. B. Thompson, C. M. Bowen. A full list of delegates were appointed to both state and congressional conventions. Resolutions were adopted endorsing state and national platforms ; and declaring against fusiĆ³n of any kind. Rev. F. M. White was elected chairman of the county committee, J. R. Bowdish secretary, and B. J. Conrad treasurer.
