Friday evening at 7:30 o'clock a meeting of the Choral unión was held in Frieze Memorial hall which was not summoned by the director. It was the eve of Prof. Stanley's birthday and all waited eagerly the arrival of the genial professor. He was led in, amidst great applause, by Prof. dePont, who in a very neat speech, explained the object of the meeting, which was "to pass judgment on this man." He then jroceeded to "charge" him with various "'ïigh crimes and misdemeanors," enumerating the great things he has done for the interests of music in the university. Then, as the expression of the "judgment" of the chorus and of the musical society upon this work, Prof. dePont presented to him an elegant gold watch and chain. Prof. Stanley expressed his appreciation very feelingly, sayingthat his pleasure was equalled only by that which he feit over the way in which the chorus acquitted itself in Saturday's concert. Prof. Kelsev, president of the University Musical society, then spokeof the great inftuenceof Prof. Stanley's work and said that in no other institution in this country was there such a musical director as Prof. Stanley nor such a chorus as the U. of M. now supports. In conclusión, all joined in singing the "Yellow and Blue," and the professor promised to entertain the chorus this evening with a program of organ rnusic.
