Detroit, June 14.- Detective i Donnell and Lally made a brilliant catch yesterday morning when they re8ted Harry Schindler, who is credited with being one of the cleverest diamond thieves in the country. Schindler and bis wife, who is a sister of Nell I Lowry, wife of '-Blinky" Morgan, were walking near the Michigan Central depot when the detectives reeognized thein f rom across the Street. They were both taken to pólice headquarters and Schindler waa locked up on suspicion. There was nothintr against his wife, and she was allowed to go. Last February the prisoner was here with Patsy Kerrigan. alias "Little Patsy." another fanious sneak. and it is believed that ! they stole Captain N. S. Whipple's ! mond pin on a Fort street car. Kerrigan was arrested, but Schindler , got out of the city by leaving his ; gage. No case couid be made out '■ against Schindler. On Feb. 9 he juinped ' his bail in Chicago, where he was awaiting trial on the charge of stealing $400 froui a woman who had just drawn the inoney out of a bank. and he will be held until the Chicago authorities are j heard trom. It is very probable that he will go there. About nine years ago j he was arrested here and 'taken 'to Buffalo, where he got five years for etealing a tray of diamonds. . It took the New York officers three months to get him, as he made a hard fight, and even sold his silk underwear to pay the lawyers. Schindler is 33 years óld and a good dreüser.
