West Ba. y City, June 18. - Th tVjax dynamite works of Heury H. Thciaas, on the Kawkawlin road, a short distance south of the Michigan Central station in Kawkawlin. and within a stone's throw of the Marston farm, was destroyed at 5:30 o'clock Saturday morning by an explosión, eaused. it is believed, by mixed acid leaking froin a carboy setting fire to 450 pounds of nitroglycerin in the works The shock was feit in this city and the concussion as far as Saginaw. Tlie fnotory, which was a cheap wooden aiïair, was blown to splinters. A hole was blown into the sand for a de? tb. or eight feet and into tliis ran severa! thousand pounds of mixed acid. The engineroom on the river bank, 100 feet east, was partly wrecked by the concussion. The damage will reacb 2,000. The factory will be rebuilt at once'.
