Killed By A Base Ball
The evils of ball playing on the streets has received a forcible illustration this weekfiis being the probable cause of the death of one of the brightest young ladies of the city. Miss Margaret E. Sharpe, who has been employed in the telephone office for some time, was struck on the head by a base-ball on the corner of Liberty street and Fifth avenue. Some students were playing at catch with it, when the ball slipped past one of them and struck the young lady, who was passing, on the right side of the head, knocking her hat off. The next day she was unable to come down to the office, and yesterday morning she died. A post-mortem examination led the doctors to the conclusiĆ³n that her death resulted from the blow of the ball. She was twenty-four years of age. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon.
