Ihe united democracy or Wasntenaw held a very harmonious convention yesterday which gives good promise of fine results this f all. All factional differences which our republican brethren have been striving to fan into a fĂ­ame were quietly buried and a harmonious and united convention resulted. Yesterday was all that was needed to show that the democracy of this county were pre.parifig to roll up their old time democratie majority this fall. M. T. Woodruff of Ypsilanti was elected temporary chairman of the convention and M. J. Cavanaugh was elected temporary secretary. The following committeess were appointed. Credentials - T. D. Kearney, M. S. Cook, Jacob Knapp. Permanent Organization and Order of Business - J. F. Schuh, J. S. Forsythe, F. E. Mills. The committee on permanent organization and ordec of business reported in favor of making the temporary organization permanent, and that the chairman and secretary of the cour,ty committee be elected by ballot. They also reponed a plan for the election of delegates by wards and townships so that each part of the county would be represented. This plan had been strongly advocated by P. G. Sukey, J. F. Schuh, H. Lighthall and others of the county committee and results showed that it gave general satisfacion as allowing each section of the county to be represented. The convention sat down on one or two attempts to slightly change this order of business during the election of delegates. A ballot was taken for chairman of the county committee and resulted: James R. Bach 41, Arthur Brown 50, F. E. Mills 14, J. F. Schuh 10, F. P. Bogardus 3, Wm. G. Doty 1, Chas. Dwyer 1, VV. E. Mills 1. Hen. Charles R. Whitman stated hat James R. Bach .would have jeen unanimously re-elected if he would take it, but as he had declined to do so, he would' move that the rules be suspended and Arthur Brown be elected by acclamation. This motion was supported by W. VV. Watts and D. A. Hammond and passed unanimously. On motion of Mr. Whitman, John Duffy was elected secretary of the county committee. A vote of thanks was tendered Mr. Bach for his faithful service as chnirman of the county committee. While the ballots for chairman of the county committee was being counted and the committee on credentials was preparing its report, the various delegations separated and agreed upon whom they would support for delegates. After the committee on credentials had reported, the convention proceeded to the election of delegates. The following delegates were elected to the state convention: Ann Arbor City: - First ward - James Kearns. Second ward - Dr. John Kapp. Third ward - Wm. Mclntyre. Fourth ward- C. R. Whitman. Fifth and Sixth wards - Edward Duffy. Pittsfield and Ann Arbor town - P. G. Sukey. Augusta - F. J. Hammond. Bridgewater and Lodi - E. D. Fenn. Freedom and Sharon- Wm. B. Osborn. Manchester - A. D. English. Northfield and Webster- P. Duffy. Sylvan - Louis Klein. Saline- E. W. Wallace. Salem and Superior - John Nanry. York - George Coe. Scio - Daniel E. Quish. Ypsilanti town and the fourth ward of Ypsilanti city, W. P. Beach. Ypsilanti city - first ward, M. T. Woodruff. Second ward - F. P. Bogardus. Third ward - John P. Kirk. Fifth ward- John Terns. Lyndon, Lima and Dexter - James Taylor. The following resolution offered by Mr. Campbell was passed: Whereas, Our fellow townsman, Mr. Frank Howard is being actively pushed by his many friends as a candidate for state treasurer on the democratie ticket; be it Resolved, That this convention, in recognition of the sterling worth and staunch democracy of Mr. Howard, hereby request the Washtenaw county delegation to the State convention, to use all honorable means to have his name placed in nomination for this honor. The convention then adjourned.
