Masón, June 26.- The trial of Attorney General Ellis for forgery carne to an end Monday afteruoon. the jury being unable to reach a verdict af ter being out 44 hours. Just before 2 o'clock Judge Person convened court and sent for the jnrv. In response to ,i question froui tl e clerk, Foreman Ling faid that it I ad been iinpossible to agre? en a verá. ct. The court asked if anything conld be gained by taking further time, and Foreman Ling said there would in his opinión be nothing gained by remaining out longer, as every ballot had been just the same and, in bis opinión, it would continue the same. The judge then asked for the opinión of the counsel. Both the prosecution and defense thought that -ander the circumstances it would not be of the slightest advantage to keep the jury out any longer. The judge then turned to the jury and said that inasmuch as the unanimous opinión of 12 men was necessary, and that seeined impossible, he would discharge the jury. The jury stood seven for acquittal and five for conviction. The tive for conviction were all Republicana, and those for acquittal were six Demócrata, two of them almost Populists, and one Eepublican.
