Three Rivers, June 28.- The election of officers of the state Sons of Veterans occurred Wednesday afternoon. Fred J. McMurtrie of this place was elected colonel on the first ballot, H. E. Cowden of Rockford, senior vice; Claud H. Whitney of Tekonsha, junior vice; D. J. Porter of Three Rivers, adjutant; H. O. Herrick of Battle Creek, H. L. Potter of St. Joseph and D. J. Post of Grand Rapids, inembers of división council. Mrs. Eniina Moore of Bentou Harbor was chosen división president of the Ladies' Aid society; Mrs. E. Schuader of St. Joseph, vice president: Mrs. Fred M. Twiss, Hillsdale, Mrs. Lillian Henderson, Hadley; Mrs. Sullivan. St. Joseph, trustees. Mrs. Amy L. Hall. chief of staff; Mrs. J. Triplett, Hillsdale, chaplain; Mrs. M. J. Beers, St. Joseph, treasurer; Miss Dora Fowler, Hadley, división inspector. A joint installation of officers was held ■with Colonel Fred M. Twiss as installing officer. A banquet was held in the evening with speeches by G-eorge E. Oogshall, Frank M. Simons of Bay Oity, Will Green and Frank M. Gier of Hillsdale, Rev. D. Robinson of Benton Harbor and leading citizens of this city.
