Lansing, June t. - Jacob Ascher, who was convicted withMaurice Rosen at Charlotte last month of defrauding his creditors and sentenced to one year at Ioaia, with the alternative of paying a fine of 500, was advised by his attorneys that such asentence wasillegal. He was before the supreme court last week on a writ of habeas corpus and Tuesday the court remanded him to the custody of Warden Fuller, thus sustaining the sentence. No opiniĆ³n was filed. Fraiik Wiezinski, who was before the court at the same time, on a similar writ, was remanded to the custody of Superintendent St. Johns of the Industrial school. Wiezinski's attorney endeavored to make it appear that his coimuitinent was illegal, buc the court noncluded it was not.
