Concerning the colored population of Ypsilanti, the Ypsilanti Sentinel says: "If the enumerators didn't lose any in the shuffle there are 528 - and prospects. The returns for 1880 gave 446, those of 1884 gave 511, and in 1890 there were 577. The loss since the last census is 9, and more than that number can be accounted for in killed and convicted." The Sentinel undoubtedly intended to give 49 as the loss. The Argus calis a halt on this slaughter of the colored population.
