The emancipation proclamation has gone forth in Ypsilanti, and Harris, celebrated in the annals of small-pox, marched forth frora his tent, Monday, as free as the zephyrs that pile up the sands of Sahara. It is agreed that the unwise and impolitic course of this negro, in taking it into his head to come down with small-pox, has cost the city about $500. A singular fact about this case is that there are those who assert that Harris did not have small-pox at all; that he was suffering from some other malady that might have been a cousin of smallpox, but not a nearer relative. Not ïuch credit is given this report, ïowever. The quarantine ranch has jeen destroyed by fire.
