Prior, who defended tne New York strikers u 1879. iu au interview said: "I couKider tnat the success of the strike, under the circumstaiices, would have resulted io practical aimrchy. I do not doubt that railway labor has a grievauce, but this is uot the way to obtain redress; nor eau the grievance be considered until tbe supremHcy of the law bas been perfectly reBtored and the rioters reduced to obedience."
