COMMUNICATIONS, KROM THE BOARD OF PCBlilC WORKS. To the Common Cbuncil : The Board of Public AVorks would recommend that owingto the dangerous condition at the present time of the overhead construction of the Ann Arbor Street Raihvay Co's wires, there having already occnrred two breaks that have been dangerous 1o life and property, anl the close próximity of the wires to the groundj it is the opinión of this Board that the Common Council should takc action in having them removed or pul in a safe conditi'on. By order of the Board of Public Works. W. J. MILLER, Clerk. On motion of Aid. Prettyman, the Board of Public Works were directed to confer with the Ann Arbor Street liailway Company as to making safe their overhead construction of trolley wires, etc. PETITI0K8 PRESENTED. Of Michael Staebler, asking that a [cense be granted him, he now being proprietor of the Germania Hotel bar. Referred to the Committee on Bonds. Of James L. Babcock and ninety others, asking the Common Council to join with the Toledo, Ann Arbor and North Michigan Raihvay Company in the construction of an over-head crossing bridge on Williams street over the said company's tracks. Referred to the Committee on Streets. Of Mrs. Ed. C. Jacobus and others, asking that a sidewalk be ordered built on the south side of Benjamin street irom Mary street to the west line of Block No. 4 of the John F. Lawrence addition. Referred to the Committee on Sidewalk.s. Of O. M. Martin and others, asking ;hat two artificial stone crosswalks be built on the west side of Fifth Avenue across Liberty street, on the south side of Liberty strget across Fifth Avenue. Referred to the Committee on Sidewalks. Clerk Miller reported that he had received communication the Commissioner of Railroads, S. R. Billings, notifying the Michigan Central Raihvay Company, also the city, that the overtiead crossing bridge on Detroit street is ont'of repair. Received and filed. A petition signed hy Wm. Biggs and six other residents and property holders of the sixth ward, asking that the sidewalk grade substantially as it now is since the recent leveling and filling on Washtenaw Ave. in front of Mrs. Coon's )lace remain as it now is. On raotion the floor was granted to Prof. Hinsdale and Mr. Bullis. The petition was referred to the Sidewalk Committee. REPORTS OP STANDING COMMITTKES. FR05I THE SIDKWAML COMMITTKE. Accepted and leave being granted the lollowing resolution was offered : By Aid. Manly : Resolved, That the grading and construct-ion of the sidewalks hereinufter mentioned is deemed and declared a necessary public imrovemeut, Therefore, It is hereby ordered that plank sidewalk be graded, built and constructed on and along the following slreets and in front of the following property in the city of Ann Albor, viz: On ingalls street, along the east side, in front of the Sigma Phi Fraternity's property. On Kingsley street. noith slde, in front of he property of Mrs. A. S. K. May, and aloug he south side in front of Dr. J. W. Keating's property Ou Madison street, north side, in front of the property of Charlen H. öt. Cluir. On South Thayer street, in front of the property No. 31). On Aun street south side, along the Hunt property, said walk to be built-1 (eet in width. Ou Lawrence street south side, along the Hall Estates property. on Thayer street, west side, along the property of the Mlsses Ladd. On Fourth Avenue, west side, trom Depot treet to Summit street. On Washington street south side, from 12th o llth streets. On Summit street, west side, from Main st. o Fourth Avenue, sidewalk to be 4 feel in width.
