Proceedings In Congress Briefed
Washington, July 19.- The senate agreed to the house joiut resolution to accept as a gift to the nation the painting exhibited at the World's fair entitled "Love and Life," by G. F. Watts, R, A., an English artist. The índian appropriation was taken up and a number of amendments agreed to. There was a good deal of debate on the sectarian school question, but the appropriation for the schools was agreed to. The bill was still pending wheii the senate went into execative session. The house devoted most of the day to business from the comrnittee on military affairs. A number of bilis of no general interest were passed.
