Negroes Demand Protection
Bkooklyn, July 19.- A meeting was held last evening by the colored citizens of Brpoklyn in the Fleet street A. M. E. church to protest against the continuance of the practice of lynching negroes in the south. Pastor W. H. Coffey presided. The Rev. William Hunt said that in the south negroes are being lynehed by the thousands and the federal or state government rnakes no attempt to prevent the outrages. Resolutions were adopted to the effect that as the president had already called out the federal troops to protect property in Chicago during the recent strike he should afïord the same protectiou to the colored citizens of the south.
