LYONS, Ia., Aug. 7 -- Grand Mound, in Clinton county, was swept by fire, entailing a loss of $23,000 with light insurance. It would have been much greater but for the opportune purchase of a fire engine and hose recently. Losses are: William Stir, hotel, $7,000; Nelson & Anderson, merchant, $9,000; William Kahler, $2,500; Dan Alexander, $1,600; Mrs. Dora Kahlern; John R. Merrill, $1,000; Joseph Dalton, $100; Mrs. Dalton, $900.
