She Knew Her Business
Mr. D. Billings and family, of Dexter, drove to the city, Monday. On theb ;.rival here they discovered that they had been accompanied by a hen, who, with an eye to her main business, had stuck to her nest under one of the seats. Her presence there was unknown, as "biddy" gave no warning when the family entered the conveyance, she believing in doing her alms in secret. Some hens, like a vain Pharisee, would have made a great outcry on being disturbed, and scrambled out with a hysterical flutter, frantically exclaiming to Mr. Bilhngs, " Get your hair cut! Get your hair cut!" but she was not that kind of a hen. She remained on her nest while in the city, showing no curiosity to see thetown, and went home in ignorance of the blessings and privileges of the university city. She had taken the contract of furnishing eggs for the family by the job, and had no time for fooling around.
